Governor Umaru Tanko Al-makura of Nasarawa State has called on Christians to use the Lenten period to pray fervently for the health of President Muhammadu Buhari and the unity of the country.

According to a statement signed by Special Assistant on Media, Ahmed Tukur, and made available to our correspondent, on Wednesday, in Lafia, Governor Al-makura urged Nigerians to take the opportunity of the Lenten season and pray to God for the good health for our president and prosperity for the country.

He said that Lent is a period of sober reflection, more commitment to the act of piety, tolerance and dedication to God, adding that the period is coming at a time the country needs prayers more than ever before for prosperity, love and affection.

Al-Makura then called on religious and community leaders to propagate the message of love, mutual respect which remains the cornerstone and overriding principle for the adherents of every religion.

He urged them to use the period to preach peace and desist from acts that could bring disharmony in the society.
