Popular TikTok star and livestreamer, Habeeb Hamzat, known as Peller, has been hospitalised following a car crash on the Lekki-Epe Expressway in Lagos.

The incident occurred on Sunday during an Instagram livestream titled “RIP Peller,” which quickly went viral on social media.

Footage from the broadcast showed Peller, who was alone, driving his newly acquired Mercedes-Benz while appearing visibly distressed and crying.

He appeared to be engaged in an emotional phone conversation amid rumours of a breakup with his girlfriend and fellow influencer, Jarvis, also known as Jadrolita.

During the livestream, Peller made several alarming statements, including threats of self-harm.

Witnesses and viewers reported hearing him say phrases such as “I will use this car and have an accident right now” and expressing fear of public mockery if the relationship ended.

He could also be heard saying, “I’m scared. I’m scared.”

Moments later, the vehicle veered off the road and collided with a barrier, causing significant damage. The livestream abruptly ended following the impact.

Bystanders at the scene assisted Peller and rushed him to a hospital for treatment.

The extent of his injuries has not been officially disclosed, and no statements have been released by Peller or his management as of Monday.

The crash has sparked widespread concern online, with reactions ranging from worry about Peller’s mental health to speculation that the event may have been staged for attention, given his history of viral content.

Some users have called for investigations by road safety officials, citing potential risks to other drivers.

An X user, Oluyemi Fasipe, said, “Intentionally crashing a car and putting your own life, as well as the lives of other road users at risk is a serious criminal offence.

“Such behaviour shows a clear disregard for public safety and the law. Peller is old enough to understand the consequences of his actions and should therefore face the full legal consequences that come with them.”

A medical doctor, Olufunmilayo Ogunsanya, said, “I hope Peller is fine now. I hope Peller is taken to hospital for a full physical and mental health check.

“When all of that is done, the Federal Road Safety Commission in conjunction with the state government should prosecute him for dangerous driving and using a video mobile phone while driving.

“His drivers license needs to immediately be withdrawn or suspended at least for a lengthy period of time for him to learn sobriety and common-sense.

“To be clear, we can not have a sane country when we normalise recklessness and lawlessness. Especially the sort of recklessness that can potentially lead to the harm and death of other innocent road users.”

Social media influencer, Babatundr Olusola Thomas said, “After watching the video of Peller running into a block with his car to unalive himself because of a breakup, I felt so bad for him. That’s a boy who doesn’t love himself. The fame has taken over him that he lives for internet validations, and cares about what people will say than his own purpose and futuristic goals.”

Peller and Jarvis have previously been in the public eye due to their on-again, off-again relationship, which has often unfolded through social media disputes and reconciliations.
