Political solutions deployed to end Nasarawa assembly crisis – Ogazi
  • Admits meeting Governor Sule, to broker peace between warring factions

From Abel Leonard, Lafia

In a bid to bring an end to the ongoing crisis in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Daniel Oga Ogazi has said political solutions are being deployed by the government to address the issue.

The factional Speaker of the State Assembly, Rt Hon Daniel Ogah Ogazi, addressed the public on Monday following a meeting with Governor Abdullahi A Sule on July 9 in Abuja.

“The meeting, convened at the Governor’s instance, aimed to broker peace between the warring factions within the Assembly and find a lasting solution to the impasse.” While the Speaker expressed his initial reluctance to attend such meetings, he emphasized his commitment to the progress and development of Nasarawa State, which prompted his participation.

No resolution has been reached yet from the meeting with the Governor. However, “political solutions are being explored as mechanisms to end the crisis. Governor Sule assured his neutrality on the matter and stated that he will not recognize anyone as the Speaker of the Assembly until the crisis is definitively resolved.” He added.

Ogazi extended apologies to the citizens of Nasarawa State for the negative impact the Assembly crisis has had on governance and development. He assured the public that no compromise would be made, and only the appropriate measures would be adopted to bring a resolution to the crisis.

He further urged citizens of Nasarawa State are urged to remain patient as efforts continue to restore stability and ensure the smooth functioning of the State Assembly.
