The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the Nigeria Police Force have pledged security support for God Is Good Mobility (GIGM) as the transport company unveiled its 40th terminal in Gwagwalada, Abuja.

The security agencies gave the assurances Tuesday at the commissioning of the new terminal, where they commended the company’s commitment to road safety, technology-driven services and community development.

The FRSC Unit Commander in Gwagwalada, Assistant Corps Commander (ACC) Uche Amaku, described GIGM as a dependable partner in promoting road safety, noting that the new facility was a significant development for the area.

Amaku said Gwagwalada served as a gateway to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), with travellers from different parts of the country passing through the area, making the establishment of a modern transport facility a welcome development.

He particularly commended the company’s operational structure, which separates passenger transportation from goods delivery through its mobility and logistics services, describing the arrangement as consistent with road safety practices.

He said, “Standing here as the commander of the road safety team, I want to say a very big congratulations to the management of GIG company.

We, as the road safety team, ours is safety and GIGM has been a dependable ally.

“They have demonstrated their commitment to safety. Federal Road Safety has been there with their GIGM team. It is a remarkable achievement, especially siting it in Gwagwalada Area Council.”

Amaku also pledged continued collaboration with GIGM in areas of staff training and safety measures, urging the company to sustain its commitment to responsible transportation.

He further called on residents of Gwagwalada to take ownership of the facility and protect it, stressing that its presence would contribute to the development of the community.

He said, “I want to state this commitment from FCT that we will continue to partner with you in terms of staff training and safety measures because we know that you are already here.

“We see you as a trailblazer and we urge the management to continue in that direction.”

Similarly, the Divisional Crime Officer (DCO) of Gwagwalada, CSP Bilikisu Shuaib, assured the company of the police’s support in maintaining security around its operations.

Shuaib, who described herself as a customer of GIGM, commended its technology-driven booking system and logistics services, saying the company’s delivery operations had earned her confidence.

She said security was a collective responsibility and called for cooperation between the company, residents and security agencies to ensure the success of the new facility.

The police officer also congratulated the management on the commissioning of its 40th branch, expressing optimism that the company would continue to expand its operations across the country.

She said, “As the Nigerian Police Force and other security agencies, we are giving you 101 assurance that we will be committed to safety and whatever, at any time that you need it, at any point that you need the police will always be there.

“Security is not for the police alone. It is the responsibility of everyone, so for us to succeed, we need that cooperation between us and the GIG company.”

Speaking at the event, Chief Executive Officer of GIGM, Dr Enahoro Okhae, said the new terminal was established not only to expand the company’s operations but also to create employment and improve access to its services in Gwagwalada and surrounding communities.

He said the company would employ people from the host community and provide residents with easier access to its mobility and logistics services, which previously required them to travel farther to access.

Okhae urged residents, traditional and religious leaders, as well as security agencies, to take ownership of the facility and help protect it, stressing that the company’s investment would only be sustainable with the cooperation of the community.

The GIGM boss said the terminal would also provide employment opportunities for residents and contribute to the economic development of the area.

He said, “Here we are going to employ the people around. I hope you know that. We are going to also create employment opportunities for people.

“We are closer to your home now. We are closer to your people now. I want to say to everybody in Gwagwalada, this is yours. It’s not just ours. This is yours.”

Okhae also highlighted the company’s youth-focused initiatives, including a 20 per cent discount on domestic trips for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members, explaining that the initiative was designed to ease the financial burden on young Nigerians.

He said the discount reflected the company’s commitment to youth development and educational empowerment, adding that GIGM was also collaborating with the NYSC to facilitate the safe transportation of corps members.

He said, “We all know that things are a bit tough in the country, but we know that disposable income is a bit challenging.

“That’s why we are giving that 20 per cent discount. It’s not easy, but it’s the commitment that we have made to ensure that we are part of the growing youth and education of this country.”

The GIGM chief executive further disclosed that the company had introduced the GIGM Ambassador scheme, which allows young people to earn a 10 per cent commission on every ticket sold through its technology platform.

Okhae further disclosed that GIGM was expanding beyond interstate road transportation with the introduction of air ticket bookings, holiday reservations and vehicle hire services through its application.
