Police Foils Kidnap in FCT Village

From Molly Kilete, Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) police command successfully foiled a kidnap attempt in Dawaki village on May 19, 2024.

Police Public Relations Officer Josephine Adeh reported that a distress call alerted the police to the attack, and Commissioner of Police Benneth C. Igweh immediately mobilized a team of officers to the scene.

In a display of bravery and coordination, the police, alongside local hunters, engaged the assailants in a fierce gun battle. The superior firepower of the police overwhelmed the kidnappers, forcing them to retreat with injuries.

While one of the victims is still receiving medical attention, the police are continuing their search for other hostages who fled during the shootout.

Commissioner Igweh reaffirmed the command’s commitment to maintaining peace and security in the FCT. Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
