Lagos State Police Command has arrested 23 suspected cultists and recovered five guns in a series of coordinated raids across the state.
According to Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the operations carried out simultaneously in Ikorodu, Lagos Island, Okokomaiko, Ilasa, Ogba, and Iju, were ordered by the Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, as part of a sustained campaign against cultism and illegal arms proliferation in the state.
According to her, four suspects were arrested in Ikorodu, following credible intelligence linking them to cult-related activities. Preliminary findings reveal they were members of the Buccaneers Confraternity (Sea Lords).
“In Lagos Island, nine suspected cultists were arrested during a raid on a criminal hideout. In Ilasa, five suspects were also nabbed in connection with a cult-related killing of one Emmanuel Obioson.

In Okoko, one suspect with ties to the Eiye Confraternity was intercepted in possession of a firearm.
“Similarly, in the Ogba and Iju areas, the operations led to the arrest of four suspects involved in illegal cult gatherings, assault, and other related violent crimes. Weapons used in the attacks were recovered, and victims are currently receiving medical attention.
“Exhibits recovered during the operations include five locally made pistols, one toy pistol, 15 live cartridges, three expended cartridges, a police camouflage face cap, an army camouflage face cap, and a jack knife with its pouch.
“The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, reiterates the command’s unwavering commitment to eradicating cultism and violent crimes. He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue to support the Police with timely and credible information,” Adebisi said.
