Nigeria’s premier think-tank institution, the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, near Jos, for the second time in a fortnight, came under attack as some gunmen attempted to infiltrate the facility.
On June 16, gunmen had attacked the institution, killing three security operatives.
Our correspondent gathered that in the latest incident, troops of the Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) had, at about 1.30 am on Monday, detected some movements around the perimeter fencing of the institution.
It was further gathered that the troops, drawn from Sector 6, in collaboration with other security agencies, responded swiftly, forcing the suspected intruders to flee into the surrounding thick bushes before any harm could be done
The troops were said to have immediately searched the area, but the hoodlums had escaped.

No casualty was, however, recorded.
Spokesman of the Plateau State Police Command, SP Alfred Alabo, said that he had not been briefed about the incident.
The Vice President, Kashim Shettima, had, during a condolence visit to the institution, directed an immediate review of security arrangements in the institution.
The vice president had also promised to provide more solar lights to the institution, while directing the management to make available to his office their strategy for combating future occurrences in the institution.
At the time of reporting, the management of the institution had not issued any official statement on the incident.
