Plateau State Commissioner for Information and Communication Joyce Ramnap has said that the state is celebrating 50 years of its creation in sobriety and deep reflection on the state of the state.
In a statement she personally signed, the commissioner said that since February 1976, when it was created, the state has stood as a symbol of peaceful coexistence, cultural diversity, and shared heritage. With people of different ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, the strength of Plateau is in the unity of its people and their steadfast commitment to peace.
The statement said, “Over the decades, the state has faced moments of trials and challenges that tested its resolve. Yet, time and again, the people of Plateau have demonstrated remarkable resilience, choosing dialogue over division, hope over despair, and unity over discord. These enduring values have remained the foundation upon which the state continues to rebuild, grow, and thrive.
“As Plateau marks 50 years, the Ministry acknowledges the sacrifices and contributions of past leaders, traditional institutions, community leaders, and citizens whose collective efforts laid and sustained the foundations of the state. Their dedication has shaped Plateau into a land of promise and opportunity.
