It was a hectic day for motorists and businesses operating along the Jos – Abuja Express Way, as hundreds of Plateau citizens trooped out in large numbers to protest what they described as inappropriate judgements of the appellate court in the Plateau election cases.

While describing the rulings as political, the people lamented that justice has not been adequately served.

The protesters, though peaceful, noted that judgements recently delivered that sacked most Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) elected legislators were lopsided.

Convener of the protesters , Ibrahim Yakubu, while addressing them, lamented that the judgements were not in the best interest of the state.

They converged at Mararaban Jama’a, the entrance into Jos, along the Jos – Bukuru express way and were heading to the city centre before they were dispersed by security operatives.

Another group of protesters who converged along Old Airport road leading to Ray Field, the seat of government, were also dispersed by policemen.

A security personnel who pleaded anonymity, because he was not authorized to speak, said that they were directed to stop the procession before turned violent.

Our correspondent reports that in a series of rulings, the Appeal Court had affirmed the judgment of the Justice Mohammed Tukur-led State and National Election Petitions Tribunal, which sacked most elected national assembly members elected under the ruling Peoples Democratic Party.

On Tuesday, the Court affirmed the election of former Governor Simon Lalong as APC senator representing Plateau South Senatorial zone, sacking Napoleon Bali who was elected under the PDP.

The people are awaiting the judgment of the Court of Appeal on the Governorship Election where the APC candidate, Yilwatda Nentawe is challenging the declaration of Caleb Mutfwang as the duly elected governor of the state by the Plateau State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal.
