National top 16 junior table tennis players in different categories are in Lagos for the Funke Oshonaike Foundation Clinic which kicks off today.
The developmental programme, a pet project of the national ping ponger and African table tennis champion, takes place at the Nigeria Table Tennis Foundation training centre at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
Oshonaike is putting the programme together with support from the NTTF to give the upcoming players direction and proper foundation.
The six-time Olympian is also working in partnership with FROT Foundation to groom future champions for Nigeria.
“It is very obvious that we need some quality players to boost the country’s profile in the game at continental and global levels.
“This has been a project I have always wanted to stage over the years and I am happy this is happening now,” she said.
The first seven days of the programme will serve as clinic/training while the last three days will be for a tournament.
Attractive prizes await winners in various categories of the competition.
