• Commends NDDC MD on light project

Bayelsa East Senator Benson Sunday Agadaga has declared that the smooth implementation of the Petroleum Industry Law by stakeholders in the upstream and downstream sectors will positively impact on the developmental aspirations of the people in the Niger Delta region and create a roadmap for its accelerated growth as well as human capital development.

The senator who shared his thoughts on the activities of the 10th Senate during a world press conference in Yenagoa also lauded the interventionist agency, Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC in its recent role to light up Bayelsa and the deliberate efforts to provide road infrastructure as well as other dividends of democracy to the people of Bayelsa.

“The passion the helmsman, Dr Samuel Ogbuku has to develop the region is reassuring, however, I think we need to look inwards at the strategic objectives of setting up the commission, there are many things left undone and stakeholders have decided to remain quite, we should collaborate and build bridges of development that will impact on her people, 2024 is a year for us to re-evaluate our objectives and set our eyes on the goal, ” he said.

The senator called on Bayelsans to rally round Governor Douye Diri, who has spent the last four years rewriting the infrastructure, security, sports, education,judiciary,human capital development and other sectoral stories of the state.

Agadaga who is also chairman of the Senate Committee on Host communities says the new year provides a new vista of opportunity to cross fertilise ideas with other strategic stakeholders to deepen the democratic process and build trust between oil companies and their host.

He pointed out that mutual trust is key and there was no need to breed misunderstanding as no nation can develop in an insecure area.

He noted that he will use his contact to attract more projects to Bayelsa State and especially his senatorial district’ to repose the confidence bestowed upon him by his people.
