A civil society organisation, Accountability Response Group of Nigeria, has called for clarification following a disclaimer issued by the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, distancing his office from the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) and the appointment of Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi.

In a statement signed by its spokesperson, Suyi Kukoyi, the group said the development had raised a number of questions which, it noted, would benefit from further clarification by relevant authorities. The organisation urged government officials to provide more information regarding the status and activities of the council.
“The assertion that the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council does not exist raises questions that deserve clarification. If the council is not recognised by the Presidency, it would be helpful to explain reports that it was referenced in the 2026 Appropriation Act and how it allegedly operated for a period while carrying out activities linked to government programmes,” the statement said.
The group also called for clarification on reports that the council operated from office accommodation within the Federal Secretariat in Abuja and allegedly carried out activities connected to national development initiatives. It said a clearer explanation from the appropriate authorities would help address public concerns generated by the controversy.
It said: “For nearly two years, the council was reported to have carried out activities associated with government objectives. We believe the public would benefit from an official clarification on the circumstances surrounding its operations and status,” the group stated.
The organisation further expressed concern about the effect of the controversy on Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, saying that all parties involved should be treated fairly and that facts relating to the matter should be fully established.
“We call for transparency and the disclosure of verifiable facts regarding this issue. Clear communication from the relevant authorities will help address public concerns and provide greater understanding of the circumstances surrounding the matter,” Kukoyi stated, explaining that the group was seeking clarification in the interest of accountability and public confidence in government institutions.
