Erstwhile Nigeria’s Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro looks set join South Africa’s Premier Soccer League (PSL) top gunners and Soweto giant, Kaizer Chiefs, as the club is believed to be pressing ahead with plans to secure the services of a new coach next season.
After a back and forth over his monthly salary after his contract expired, Peseiro’s job became officially vacant last week as the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) called for applications from interested coaches.
Arthur Zwane was in-charge at Chiefs last season, before being replaced by Molefi Ntseki ahead of the current campaign. The South African last week published that Jose Peseiro has applied for the job.
It also said that he was ready to turn down the Egyptian national team in order to sign Amakhosi.
Now the latest report coming from Soccer-Laduma suggests Peseiro is ready to turn down clubs in North Africa for Chiefs deal.
“Jose Peseiro is a highly qualified coach who can do a good job at a big club like Chiefs. He is interested in the job and coaching in the PSL is something that he has always thought about. As the search for a new job is ongoing for him, Chiefs is one of the clubs that he has been recommended to. There are interested clubs in the coach from Morocco and Egypt, but he would like to come to South Africa in his next move,” said the source.
Chiefs are now beginning to be linked with high profile coaches, with Peseiro in a list with Vanderlei Luxemburgo. It will be interesting to see who the team ends up appointing.
