‎The Edo State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has rejected the results of the state House of Assembly election announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission, saying that the polls were not free and fair.

The state Chairman of the party, Chief Dan Orbih, while addressing journalists in Benin, alleged that with massive deployment of armed soldiers who were used to intimidate voters in order to support APC candidates, it was clear that democracy is under threat in the country.

He said unlike former President Goodluck Jonathan who conducted a free and fair election in 2015 and handed over power to incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari of the APC, last Saturday’s election was the worst since the return to democratic rule in 1999.

The PDP chairman, therefore, drew the attention of Nigerians to an impending dictatorship under Buhari, urging them to resist it before it gets too late.
