The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Akwa Ibom State, Senator John Akpan Udoedehe, has unveiled an eight-point manifesto to the people and queried the alleged N3trn spent by Pastor Umo Eno within three years in the state.
Addressing journalists in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, Udoedehe explained that the eight-point manifesto is anchored on poverty eradication, community empowerment, employment for youths, provision of education infrastructure and a reliable healthcare system for the people, if elected governor of the state in 2027.
According to him, other items in the planned governance model would include the provision of a fourth tier of government, regional grassroots development and urban renewal centres, economic transformation and industrialisation, provision of infrastructure and basic amenities, and availability of quality water for all.
“Our government will establish a fourth tier of government in the 2,664 villages of the state, with monthly imprest for rapid response to village needs, security, accountability, community development and infrastructural maintenance.”
“Modernising of Local Government Secretariat. In wilful collaboration with the Local Government Council, my government will construct well-planned 1.5km access roads into the Local Government Secretariat, with essential administrative facilities to improve efficiency and service delivery.”
Tagged “Rich Land, Poor People – Kill Poverty Before Poverty Kills Us”, Udoedehe promised to enthrone a government that will empower the people, build the economy and deliver what he described as shared prosperity to the people.
Udoedehe, who was the former national secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), stated that the eight-point manifesto would be driven by agriculture and the blue economy as the key drivers and foundation of every economy.
“My government will provide extension services, appropriate mechanisation, improved inputs, seedlings, storage, processing and market access.”
“We will give money to support fishermen.”
“We will revitalise the rice belt in Ini and other places with potentials by providing adequate financial support to rice farmers.”
On open-book governance, Udoedehe explained that his administration would be transparent, powered by a motivated civil service system.
“There will be transparency.”
“My government will improve staff training, digital service delivery and fair access to staff welfare programmes.”

“We will provide housing and car loans to government workers.”
“We will provide educational support for at least four (4) children from every staff member’s family, covering all levels from nursery to tertiary education.”
On the N3trn spent in the past three years in Akwa Ibom State, Udoedehe said the state had gone bad in the last three years, adding that his administration would fix the state and return it to the past glory as handed over by the former administration of Obong Victor Attah.
“Of recent, Umo Eno has been throwing shades on me. I wish to state that Akwa Ibom has never been this bad in terms of development.”
“Can Umo Eno account for over 3 trillion naira accrued to this administration?”
“Recently, he boasted of clearing debts owed by the former administration.”
“Debt is not a bad omen as he wants people to see. Loan, when tied to people-centric projects, is a welcome development.”
“Umo Eno must tell us the reason he is more interested in paying debts than empowering Akwa Ibom and building infrastructure.”
“Uyo has become a headquarters of potholes, while Itu Road, Church Road and environs have become a death trap.”
Udoedehe said that when he takes over the government, he would address all problems relating to development in the state.
However, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Umo on Research and Documentation, reacting to Senator Udoedehe’s claims on his Facebook page, said the governorship seat cannot be given to Udoedehe even if it were zoned to his family.
“Even if the governorship of Akwa Ibom State were to be zoned to his family, Udoedehe would not still emerge as governor and he knows it.”
“As usual, Uyo Bungalow Landlord is just in the race to do some pickings from the gullible few and then go and wait like a hawk for the next election season in 2031.”
