The Nigeria Police Force in Delta State says 15 suspects have been apprehended over the harassment of women during a festival in Ozoro, Isoko North Local Government Area.
The update follows widespread outrage triggered by viral videos and claims that women were attacked during the Alue-Do Festival in Oramudu Quarters. Police spokesman Bright Edafe said 11 additional suspects were recently arrested, bringing the total number in custody to 15.
He explained that preliminary findings indicate that criminal elements took advantage of the celebration to carry out the acts, stressing that such behaviour has no link to any legitimate cultural practice.
The Commissioner of Police, Aina Adesola, condemned the incident and assured that all those involved would be identified and prosecuted. He also urged victims and witnesses to come forward with useful information.
