Governor Abiola Ajimobi, has sacked Commissioner for Special Duties, Mr. Mudathir Abdulganiyu.
Daily Sun gathered that the letter was delivered after the former commissioner resumed in his office for the day’s business, yesterday, but, it was a day to pack personal items and leave the office immediately.
Announcing the sack on his Facebook page (Muda Ganiyu), the sacked commissioner thanked his friends for the prayers and support during his short stint as the commissioner.
“Alhamdulilah! Alhamdulilah!! Alhamdulilah Rabil-Alameen. Dear friends, I wish to let you know that I have finished my tour of duty as Oyo State Commissioner of Special Duties. I thank you all for your prayers and support while it lasted. God bless you all,” he wrote on Facebook, yesterday.
Abdulganiyu was appointed commissioner in June 2016.
A source close to the ministry, who declined to be named said the former Nigerian Tribune editor did not disclose the reason for his sack to anyone before leaving the ministry.
When contacted on telephone, Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr. Toye Arulogun, told Daily Sun he was “not aware of the development yet” and as such, was not able to confirm or deny the sack.
Following conclusion of the commemoration of the sixth year anniversary of the Ajimobi led- administration, it was gathered that fear and apprehension over imminent shake-up of cabinet heightens, as many commissioners and other political appointees have been running helter-skelter to scale the hurdle.
While speculation was rife that some commissioners might not be retained, due to alleged poor performance, “some aides might also be sacked for allegedly collecting money from the governor to run their offices without results to show for them.”
It was also gathered however, that of the remaining commissioners, only a few have been penciled down for re-nomination to the same ministries, while few aides would retain their positions in government.
It was also gathered from the source that the speculative cabinet rejig or reshuffle is certain, adding that the governor had already been on the look out for technocrats and experts who could inject fresh ideas to the administration aggressive drive to improve the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) among others to achieve some programmes of the governor which are been stalled due to paucity of fund and declining revenue from the Federal Government.
It was also gathered that some political appointees had been identified to be removed in the next cabinet shake-up and the political appointees have been advised to officially write their letters of resignation, as Ajimobi set to inject new blood into his government and drop those who have nothing to offer.
