Over 1000 residents of Festac, Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos State, on Saturday, benefited from the second Ola western food festival.

The event, which was organised by the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Amuwo Odofin State Constituency 1 in the 2023 general elections, Folorunsho Ola Western, saw over 1000 people from Festac and its environs benefiting from the distribution of food items such as rice, beans, yam and garri as well vegetable oil and live chickens.

Speaking during the event, Ola Western said the items which were meant for the Easter celebration were not limited to Christians alone. “We are not limiting it to the Christians only; it also extends to Muslims and other stakeholders in the Festac,” he said.

He also said it was not restricted to the APC members. “It cuts across parties but firstly, I have to take care of all the exco members starting from the ward level to the local government level, and other members of the APC. We also included other stakeholders in the community like the physically challenged persons, the less privileged, as well as representatives of the Niger Delta groups, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, and the Arewa; they are all represented here. We are going to take care of about 1000 people with the food items and the live chickens,” he stated.

On the motivation to embark on such a charitable work, he said: “I believe that giving is an art. When one is blessed with wealth, it is good and nice to give back to society, especially in this period of economic hardship. the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has done well by introducing the ‘Ounje Eko’ programme, where he reduced the prices of food items by 25 percent. So, as a community leader, I believe that I can complement the governor’s effort by sharing part of the God’s blessing on me to the people of the community to have a memorable and rewarding Easter celebration.”
