While the champions of the game went home with ₦2,000,000; the 2nd position received ₦1,000,000. The contest for 3rd place did not hold because of some issues over players’ licenses. Regardless, the sum of ₦500,000 was set aside for that position.

Speaking shortly after presenting medals and various prizes to the individual winners and teams, the Chief Executive Officer of the company, Chief Patrick Uchechukwu Onwuelingo, thanked God for the success of the exercise, emphasising that there was no death or any bad incident from the beginning to the end of the game.

He also commended the 25 teams that participated in the tournament and the state government for providing an enabling environment for the exercise to take place.

Onwuelingo, represented by Chinenye Ezeagu, said that the various prizes were not simply rewards for winning the match but a recognition of the players’ dedication, teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship.

He said that when the idea of the statewide game for people aged 40 and above was presented to the company for sponsorship, his team saw beyond just another football tournament but an opportunity to promote healthy living, strengthen community bonds, and remind people that age should never be a barrier to living an active and fulfilling life.

“More importantly, they reflect our commitment to supporting community football and encouraging initiatives that bring people together”, he added.

Onwuelingo, who described football as more than a game, said that it teaches discipline, teamwork, resilience, respect, and sacrifice; pointing out that “those values are just as important in our homes, businesses, and communities as they are on the football pitch.”

Onwuelingo commended Anambra State Football Association for its vision, dedication, and hard work which contributed to the success of the tournament, as well as the referees, match officials, medical personnel, volunteers, security agencies, and every other person who contributed to the success of the exercise.
