Otti’s clearing of pension arrears’ll motivate Abia civil servants – Chukwu

From Okey Sampson, Umuahia

The Founder of Oluebube A. Chukwu Foundation (OACF), Dr Oluebube Chukwu, has extolled Governor Alex Otti for clearing the backlog of arrears owed pensioners in the state, saying this would go a long way to motivating civil servants in the state.

Speaking in Umuahia, Chukwu said it would only take a man of integrity and one who loves his people to do what Otti did in fulfilling his campaign promise to clear the backlog of arrears owed pensioners in the State.

“By clearing the backlog of pension arrears and paying workers as at when due and regularly, Governor Otti will not only be motivating civil servants to perform better but also boosting the economy of the State thereby improving the living standards of Abians.

“It is only when you have a man of integrity and one with the love of his people that the people can rejoice as pension are doing in the state today.”

Recalling what the Governor said that never again will Abia Pensioners be owed their pensions, Chukwu commended Otti for prioritizing the welfare of the people.

The payment of these arrears Chukwu observed is a welcomed relief to the Pensioners in the State who had not been paid their entitlements since as far back as 2014.

Chukwu stated that by paying the pension arrears inherited from his predecessors and by showing commitment to paying them going forward as when due, Otti has changed the narratives of governance in Abia.

“There is no gainsaying the fact that with what Otti has done within nine months in the saddle of the affairs of the state, including the payment of the pension arrears, he has changed the narrative in the governance of the state.”

He applauded the Governor for being alive to his responsibilities and urged him to continue in that positive direction.
