From Lateef Dada, Osogbo
The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Bola Oyebamiji, has pledged that if elected in the August 15 governorship poll, his administration will integrate non-indigenes and other interest groups into governance.
Oyebamiji stated this during a public engagement meeting with members of the Arewa community in Ibokun, Obokun Local Government Area, on Sunday.
Represented by Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, a former Special Adviser on Civic Engagement to ex-governor Gboyega Oyetola.
Oyebamiji said his administration would adopt a structured approach to inclusive and participatory governance, aimed at bridging the gap between government and grassroots communities, so that public policies would reflect the needs and inputs of the people. He also said residents would be involved in policy formulation and implementation.
According to him, the inclusiveness would help harness the state’s potential in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and would ensure continuity of APC’s people-oriented programmes by engaging groups such as farmers’ associations, trade unions, artisans, and non-indigene communities, making them key stakeholders.

Responding, the Seriki of the Arewa community in Obokun, Alhaji Ayuba Abubakar, commended Oyetola for his consistent engagement with the community.
He said the immediate past administration provided support and helped resolve communal disputes through the Office of Civic Engagement, preventing potential crises.
Abubakar recalled that the Oyetola-led administration intervened during communal challenges across parts of the state and facilitated peaceful resolutions. He added that, through Oyintiloye, land was acquired for the community and the government provided palliatives.
He urged Oyebamiji to sustain the relationship established by the previous APC administration, saying the community pledged “unalloyed support” and would demonstrate it at the polls—adding that they would support and vote for the APC in the governorship election, with Bola Oyebamiji as their candidate.
He also called for a more business-friendly environment to boost economic growth and development in Osun.
