Kidnappers of Emmanuel Owolabi, a retired customs officer in Ora-Igbomina, Ifedayo Local Government Area of Osun State, have demanded a ₦200 million ransom.
The kidnappers contacted a member of the victim’s family on mobile phone.
Mr Owolabi was kidnapped in his home on Monday night, leaving the community in fear and apprehension.
Tragically, the leader of non-indigenes in the area was reportedly killed during the attack, intensifying the sense of fear and insecurity among residents.
It was gathered that travellers along the Oteere Ila/Ora road were shot at by the bandits as they attempted to escape, resulting in multiple injuries and prompting motorists to abandon the route.

Local security guards and community vigilantes tried to repel the attackers and protect residents but were outmatched by the heavily armed intruders.
In a statement by his spokesperson, Governor Ademola Adeleke commiserated with the people of Ora-Igbomina, assuring that a military-backed rescue and protection security operation has been underway for the past three days.
The Governor described the Ora incident as saddening and a major security breach even after almost all the watertight pre-emptive precautions already put in place in the last three months.
Mr Adeleke expressed confidence that the ongoing military-backed security operations across the border towns would prevent recurrence of the attacks and also secure the release of the kidnapped retired customs officer.
