Osun guber: The trial of ‘Brother’ Ademola and a peep into the Adelekes

The Adelekes of Ede, Osun State, have a long, rich history behind them. So also a credible past creditable unto the dynasty. They have glowing success stories to tell. And in flourishing abundance.

They define almost every space they elect to occupy. Name it: Politics, business, entertainment, education, philanthropy, et al. They’re never found wanting in any. Not even remotely.

Whatever they choose to address their minds at. They do it with uncanny vigour and enterprise. The end justifies the means. They faileth not. Triumph, victory are the watchwords.

They are never intimidated. No threat frightens them. Instead, they’re strengthened to the detriment of their adversaries. They fear no foe. They cherish friends and value associates. They respect them all and discard them not.

They have the resources and energy to make a statement. A war chest. That August 15, 2026, Osun State governorship poll remains a living testimony. They did it so profoundly. It’s in their character. Ruffling feathers, causing disturbances and nervousness. Irritating and upsetting the status quo.

They have done this several times over. Collectively and individually. Even effortlessly. They are still counting. Surging ahead uncaged, unrestrained and unabated. They are endowed with the dexterity of a smooth operator.

They have the massive support of the masses behind them. They are never moved a hoot. They care less either whose ox is gored. Or even brutally bruised. Wounded or injured. Courage, guts, audacity run in the family. They’re in their DNA.

So, let’s invade the lives of the Adelekes. Let’s expose their privacy. That’s even if they have any left. Let their public lives be further explored. It is worthwhile. Strictly for very good reasons. The intent and purpose are genuine and sincere.

Chief Raji Ayoola Adeleke. The begetter of the blossoming Adeleke Dynasty. He lived between 1937 and 1994. He launched the family into active partisan politics. He was senator, Second Republic, 1979 to 1983. A shrewd businessman and Islamic leader.

He left the scene at age 57. In later years, two of his offspring embraced his political calling. They excelled and became formidable giants. With them, the dynasty added governors and senators to its political feats.

The exploits were performed by just two members who embraced their forebear’s political calling. Becoming senators and governors at varied times. One was first governor, later twice senator.

The other reversed it. He opted to be Senator first. And he has just won governorship election for a second term. The duo did the deed in the same senatorial district where their father did his. The same state.

Senator Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke, aka Serubawon, A dread onto them.  The first to follow in his father’s footsteps. Of course, he was the eldest. He blazed the trail. He stormed Nigeria’s murky political waters. He was not nicknamed Serubawon for nothing. He earned it.

That escapade instantly paid off. And handsomely too. He became the first civilian governor, Osun State. He held sway between 1992 and 1993. Twice senator in the ongoing dispensation. He also held the title, Asiwaju of Edeland. Born in 1955, died in 2017.

Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke had every reason to dare politics. He had undergone training and re-training. He had taken enough tutorials. He watched his father do it and it ended well. His brother trod the same path. And walked into huge success. He was spurred into action. And plunged into politics. Dwelling richly on his exceptional dancing ability.

He first danced his way into the Senate in 2017. After the death of his brother, Serubawon. His political foes wrote him off. They erroneously spotted “unseriousness” in him. Throughout his one term. He was never given a chance to breathe. Practically suffocated, choked. Vilified and torn to shreds.

They poured scorn on him despicably. With utter contempt he was condemned. Using his dance steps to deride and disparage him. They claimed he rode to the Senate on the back of Serubawon. But he didn’t allow himself to be a subject of derision. Or made a laughing stock. He forged ahead. Unperturbed.

Instead, he turned for them their mischievous laughter into deep mourning. He upped the stakes. He ran for the Osun State governorship on September 22, 2018. He slugged it out with top contenders. Including Adegboyega Oyetola , All Progressives Congress (APC) and Iyiola Omisore. INEC was forced to declare it inconclusive.

For the September 27, 2018, rerun. APC had to lure Omisore for the Ife votes. INEC again made it work wonders for them. Oyetola was declared winner. Adeleke remained adamant until the Supreme Court ruled him out. And opted for Oyetola as governor-elect.

The doggedness in Adeleke wouldn’t allow him to rest. And he was restive until another window opened in 2022. He skilfully honed his strategies. He went into the contest one more time with Oyetola. And defeated him as a sitting governor. It was an epoch! Osun State Government Newsletter confirmed that much:

“In 2022, Adeleke contested in the gubernatorial election of 16 July under the PDP against incumbent governor Gboyega Oyetola. Adeleke defeated Oyetola with 402,979 votes to 375,077 votes. Adeleke won in 17 local governments, including Olorunda, Ede South, Orolu, Osogbo, Odo Otin, Ifelodun, Boluwaduro, Atakumosa and Ila.”

While Serubawon and the younger Dancer feasted on politics. The calm, cool Dr. Adedeji Adeleke inherited their father’s business acumen. He not only excelled. He added noiseless philanthropy. And made a colossus out of the two. He is Chairman, Pacific Holdings, founder, Adeleke University, Ede.

Meta AI could not resist the irresistible Adeleke family. It testifies that the dynasty rests on three pillars. Politics: Isiaka, Ademola and their intimidating influence in Osun. Adedeji holds on exclusively to business, funds schools, churches, foundations, et al. His son, Davido, music icon, breaking grounds in culture and entertainment.

“That is why people call them ‘Nigeria’s Powerhouse Family’. They have money, political office and cultural influence all in one family.”

For the Adelekes. Theirs is a God-given talent. And they apply it wisely. To the well-being of mankind. Evidence and proofs are in leaps and bounds. They are all over. You cannot risk ignoring them. Ask Osun State APC!

In all of this, the rave of the moment is Governor Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke. He is not called a (Michael) Jackson carelessly. He knows his onions inside-out. He knows his people. And his people are not ignorant of him.

They have over time struck a strong mutual trust. It is an accord. That accord surged to the fore last Saturday. And played out glowingly to the huge benefit of both partners. It was to their greatest satisfaction. Everyone was happy. And still they are.

See the principalities and powers that confronted Adeleke. Him alone! And they all fell flat like the ancient Wall of Jericho. In just one night. They nearly perished and almost no more. In great haste they fled all of them. In different directions. Confused, scattered, stumbled out of the state they came to destroy. They couldn’t gather enough strength. They lost the evil steam in them.

They hurried out. To avoid being caught up in the fire they stoked. It was one narrow escape of their lives. In a jiffy, they were turned to mere prey. And victims of their own ruinous deeds. The evils that men do. Now live with them. No “go come.” Or “after later.”  It’s a factual truth. The Osun gubernatorial poll was an illustrative confirmation.

Their list is endless. It will daze and dazzle you: Thirty governors, Senate President, ministers, presidential aides of varied species, et al. This intimidating bandwagon came and joined: Thirty-two commissioners of police, 36 deputy commissioners of police, 51 assistant commissioners of police and other lower ranks.

All descended on just 1,906,390 eligible registered voters. Feigning support for a peaceful poll. But, actually, to kill, destroy and steal. Not only that. To manipulate the process, voters and their votes. At the end, 1,010, 684 voters were accredited, 1,005,800 votes balloted. But only 985,079 voted.

Adeleke, Accord, coasted home with 511,067 of the votes. His closest and fiercest rival, Oyebamiji, forcefully polled 444,815. Other lesser candidates struggled to share the remnants. According to their lesser strengths.

Earlier. The night before the election. The ferocious locusts swarmed on Osun. To unleash evil on the innocent voters. They were unaware of the violent torrents of the Osun River. And the River made good meat of them accordingly. They were brutally washed away, wasted by its deluge. It’s a tale they will hate to remember for life.

It replicated the biblical Noah’s flood. And later the Egyptian Pharaoh’s army submerge in the Red Sea. They were consumed by the barrage they caused on themselves. That sacred book, the Holy Bible, can’t be desecrated: It’s not by might or power. But by the Spirit of God.

Imagine. A sitting governor left his state unattended to. Relocate to assist in unseating a sitting colleague of his out of office! Highly contemptible. Gross immorality. That couldn’t have been moral support of any sort. It was flagrant abandonment of duty.

Equally brazen and blatant. That irresponsibility is loathsome and repellent. Its result couldn’t have been otherwise, but monumental failure. Just as it happened last Saturday in Osun. Quite absurd and sordid.

In another breath. What do these queer characters take us for? Brainless as they will wish us to be? After all their tactics were rendered impotent. Courtesy of the resilient Osun voters. Their strategies ended up in tragedies for them. In desperation, they’re twisting the narratives. To align with their devilish desires.

Still shamelessly. They are beating their chests. Swearing to the high heavens. That their principal made the Osun miracle happen. That the people’s victory showcased just one thing: The sterling democratic qualities embedded in their principal. Utterly laughable.

That if he had not generously allowed it. It wouldn’t have been made possible. And Osun would have been on fire by now. Pity! Their principal seems to be enjoying the shenanigans. And show of shame while it lasts. He’s giving tacit support to the lies, the odd narratives.

That’s exactly what they planned for. To cause mayhem. And throw the people’s hope under the fast-moving train. But “God isn’t a man that He should lie, nor a son of man that He should change His mind,” says Numbers 14: 26. God disgraced them with a shocking denial.

You can’t rubbish destiny. Because you weren’t there when God was putting together man’s fate and future. Osun happened because God allowed it. For Him to showcase His glory. That’s beyond human comprehension. They are carnal minded. They cannot discern appropriately.

Everyone that thought he or she mattered abandoned Adeleke. When the battle was hottest. They stripped him naked. Even his Accord Party’s national chairman, Christopher Imumolen. He couldn’t resist Adeleke’s adversaries. He ditched him, betrayed him. He threw him away like bathwater.

A day before the poll, Imumolen and his national working committee switched camp to APC.

Many more deserted him. They wanted to turn him to a leper. They left him in the cold, to his fate. The more the election drew closer. The more many found it expedient to dump him. But see how it played out.

God turned for Adeleke his mourning into dancing. God removed his sackcloth and girded him with gladness. He will never share His glory with any man. That’s given. Forever established. It manifested again to our delight last Saturday in Osun.

Yet. These attack dogs are restless and restive. They turned around playing God. Converting their principal to a notorious, all-purpose, all-powerful tin god. And twisting the Will of our God despicably at will.

Instead of being genuinely remorseful. Atoning for souls lost and the innocent blood shed. They take on the garments of political terrorists. They’re all over our spaces. Choking us with their highly intoxicated boasts and vomits. That their “omni-powerful” principal is eternally invulnerable, unshakable and unbreakable. He’s the only unholy trinity we know around.

They are flaunting it to our bewilderment. Their inordinate exploits before, during and after the election. What types of souls reside in the inside of them? They have determined long ago not to pick up any useful lessons from Osun 2026. If it went not their way. It’s a deliberate intention.

They knew and were convinced that it would not. They are insolent and impudent. It’s a national self-inflicted tragedy. Wickedly dropped on our weakened laps. Variously confronting and troubling us. In all our spheres of life.

Adeleke is practically on trial. He has a more Herculean task at hand this time. Bigger than his first term. Watch your back. And be mindful of your actions and inactions. No excuse for mis-steps. Only walk your talk.

You have laid a solid foundation for electoral restructuring. You have profoundly proved that it’s doable. Don’t stop at that. Don’t rest on your oars. It’s not yet Uhuru. Let the music go on. There should be no stopping it. Likewise, the dancing. It’s your forte, your strength. There’s no faulting you.

Above all: Flee from all forms of defection! It’s a spoiler, a distraction from your focus. It blurs your gaze. It doesn’t usually bear good fruits. It is an after-thought. From the deep pit of bottomless hell. It is a pyrrhic victory. Surely, it will come back to hurt.

Where will your help come from then? From God, of course. The Maker and Creator of heaven and earth. And everything in them.

LAST LINES

See what they’re trending…

The disgusting claim that President Bola Tinubu magnanimously allowed the Osun election to be “free and fair” is eerie and queer. It’s no credit to him at all. If anything, it is a huge deficit, a moral debt. It de-markets him. It doesn’t do any good to his image either.

It rather paints him negatively. It speaks volumes of what happened in past controversial elections under him. What is a president supposed to do in an election? To make it violent? And declare inconclusive, in the character of INEC?

A president swears to an oath of allegiance to the constitution and the people of the country he leads. And that oath is not to promote violence at any time. Not even during elections. The oath compels him to see to the maintenance of peace at all times. And in all parts of the country.

Don’t make a tin-god out of Tinubu. He should promptly resist this evil. He must not oblige them the luxury of building a fake, make- believe myth around him. Or, is he truly enjoying the mockery?

If Tinubu didn’t allow the Osun poll to run its course. What would he have done in the alternative? To lead an assault against a peaceful, free and fair election? It’s sickening. We have turned things upside-down and inside-out in our clime. Abnormality has become normal and the norm.

They should let this sink well in their awkwardly wired brains. And their confused minds. No mortal allowed the Osun governorship poll to run the manner it ran. God did!
