The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State on Wednesday said the formal start of campaigning on March 11 signals the end of what it called the “nepotism” of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration.
In a statement, state APC chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, urged party supporters to conduct themselves with civility during the campaign, which he described as a hallmark of the party.
“Today is remarkable in the political history of the state as it marks the statutory electoral process for the sacking of the satellite Governor Ademola Adeleke from the political theatre of the state through the forthcoming 15th August, 2026, governorship election,” the statement said.
Lawal accused the Adeleke administration of widespread misgovernance and policy inconsistency, saying the government had turned Osun into “a political and administrative laboratory”. He promised that the APC would work to restore what he described as the state’s lost glory.

The chairman commended the party’s governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), and his running mate, Aare (Engr) Benjamin Kayode Adereti, for their campaign preparations, saying they had been working “through sleepless nights” to ensure Osun does not lag behind other states.
The APC accused Governor Adeleke of favouring his hometown, Ede, in infrastructure spending, alleging that roads leading to Ede have been prioritised for dualisation at the expense of the state’s other 28 local government areas.
The party also criticised what it described as nepotistic appointments and cited the governor’s reported expenditure of over N600 million to rebuild the Sango Shrine in Ede, while sectors such as education and health remain underfunded.
“The litany of the anomalies of the Governor Adeleke administration is legendary and shall be continually exposed when our campaign begins in earnest,” the APC said.
The party called on Osun voters to watch the campaign closely as the political contest for the August 15 governorship election unfolds.
