The African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate in Osun State, Dr. Najeem Salaam, has called on his supporters to refrain from attacking the personalities of his opponents as they approach the 2026 gubernatorial election.
In a statement titled “A New Politics. A Better Osun. A True Omoluabi Movement,” Salaam emphasized the importance of civility and maturity in political discourse.
He expressed gratitude to the members of his movement, particularly those actively engaging on social media platforms like Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), and WhatsApp, saying “Politics is, at its core, a contest of ideas, not a battlefield of insults.”
The former Osun assembly speaker urged supporters to uphold the values of dignity, integrity, respect, and honor that are foundational to the Omoluabi ethos of Osun State.
He appealed directly to social media advocates, asking them to avoid conversations that insult or demean opponents and to prosecute their campaign with passion while maintaining respect.

Salaam who emphasized the need to persuade through ideas rather than hostility, said “We can offer constructive criticism without demeaning others.”
He reminded supporters that all citizens are “children of the same soil,” sharing common challenges and aspirations that far outweigh their differences. He encouraged them to demonstrate a politics rooted in maturity and unity, showcasing Osun as a model for leadership based on respect and purpose.
Salaam reaffirmed the importance of maintaining the Omoluabi spirit throughout the campaign, saying “I believe deeply in this movement, and I am confident that together, we will change the narrative without losing our values.”
