From Lateef Dada, Osogbo
The immediate past Nigeria’s Ambassador to Mexico, Adejare Bello, has told Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State to prepare to leave the state for the All Progressive Congress (APC) come 2026.
He advised Adeleke to use the remaining years he has to work for the development of the state because he may not return for the second term.
Bello stated this at his country home, Ede, at the weekend, during a welcome party organized by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and his loyalists after his sojourn in Mexico.
His words: “APC is a party to watch out for in 2026. APC is coming back to power, you can be rest assured. The man there today is my friend and brother. I wish him well. I congratulated Governor Ademola Adeleke when he won the election at the Supreme Court. But when it comes to politics, I have to defend where I belong and that is why I said Osun people should watch out as APC will take over power in 2026.
“I will also want to advise Governor Ademola Adeleke that in the remaining years, he has almost three years, he should intensify effort to make sure that he develops every facet of Osun State because he may not have another four years to it.”
On the state of the nation, Bello expressed fear over the gloomy future of Nigeria with importation higher than exportation.
He noted that the import is times 10 of what Nigeria sends out, saying that if the country fails to ban 85 per cent of its importation, the future of the country will be gloomy.
He boasted that Nigeria would overcome its problems after two years of the Bola Tinubu in government, adding that the president needs prayer and support from the people to achieve his objectives.
According to him, “Nigeria is battered, we all know it, but we have to give him a kind of synergy, work together, and pray for him. Why there is a trade imbalance in Nigeria against other continents is because what we bring in is almost times 10 what we send out. What that means is that we have to reduce our demand for imports.
“If I were the president today, I would ban not less than 85 per cent of what we bring in as of today. If we don’t do it, tomorrow of Nigeria is very gloomy and we should not allow it to run murky.”
