As the 106 years founders’ day celebration of United African Methodist Church [UAMC] gathers momentum, Chairman, Planning Committee, Honourable Sesan Olanrewaju has disclosed member of the public will benefit from the annual fiesta.
This assertion was made during the pre-ceremony press conference held at the church cathedral in Jebba Street, Ebute-Metta, Lagos.
Addressing the media, Olanrewaju a member of the church which was founded on November 27, 1917 by members of the Wesley Church, Ereko, Lagos, revealed despite the current ugly economy situation of the nation, all will be set to mark a memorable anniversary capable of supporting the government and promoting the image of the church. He however unfolded less privilege, widows, students, orphans and host of others will serve as beneficiaries to several activities billed to be observe enroute the occassion.
In his words: ‘ On behalf of me and the entire members of the board of trustees of the organisation as well as the lay president and the executives of the organisation, i wish to unveil our plans for the celebration of the Founders’ Day of our great United African Methodist Church.
‘ On the 27th of this month, we will be 106 years and we are starting with several programs scheduled to end on Sunday, December 3rd.
‘On Friday, November 17 there will be praise nights at the diocesan level while on Friday, November 24 there will be mega praise night at organisation level at Town Hall, Ikorodu, tagged: Rejoice and Give Praise.
‘ A 12-day fasting and prayers has been set aside to hold from Thursday, November 16 to Monday, November 27. Each diocese will organise break of fasting via online program.
‘ Preliminary round of bible quiz at four different categories would hold on Saturday, November 25 at diocese levels. The highlight of the celebration will be enthronement of a new archbishop, presentation of awards and holy communion service in this auditorium from 11:00am while the service will be conducted by primate of the organisation, Rev. Joseph Adebayo Ojaoba.
‘ There will also be seminar for youths, women and men on Nov. 28 while Nov. 29 will be set aside for choristers interested in workshop tagged: ‘The duties and importance of stewards in the church.’
‘ We are also delighted to announce an evangelism outreach, presentation of gifts for widows and orphans and this will hold on Thursday Nov.30. Aside this, the church also have great plans for student aiming scholarships while distributions of palliatives to needy in the society will not also be left out,’ he stated.
