The opposition spokesman and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) House of Representatives candidate for Ideato North South federal constituency, Ikenga Ugochinyere, has frowned at the recent attack on traders at Alaba International market in Lagos by thugs.

Ugochinyere in a statement, lamented that the touts extort the aggrieved traders of their hard-earned money under the disguise of levies for the park.

He said the attack, particularly on traders, is wicked and unacceptable and if care is not taken, might lead to bloody ethnic clashes that will sink the country.

Ugochinyere demanded the immediate arrest and prosecution of those thugs, urging Igbo traders to defend themselves next time.

“The security agencies in Lagos are not living up to expectations,” he stated. “Something urgent needs to be done to avoid a reoccurrence of this incident. These thugs and their sponsors should not dare such attack again on Igbo traders or else they will meet a corresponding response. Enough of such insult on Ndigbo.”
