The Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Fortune Global Shipping & Logistics Limited, Dr Eric Opah, has sent felicitations to Christian faithful across Nigeria as they celebrate the birth of Christ today.
In a statement made available to Daily Sun, Opah acknowledged the myriad challenges Nigerians encountered this year but added that such challenges should be a wake-up call for both leaders and the masses.
“As we celebrate the birth of Christ this Christmas season, we are reminded of the enduring values of faith, love, sacrifice, and compassion. It is a time to pause, give thanks to God for His grace, and appreciate the gift of family, friendship, and community that sustains us through every season.
“As 2025 draws to a close, I reflect with humility and thankfulness on a year that tested our nation on many fronts. It has been a period of significant transition marked by bold reforms, difficult adjustments, and undeniable sacrifice by individuals, families, and businesses.
“Across multiple sectors, the government embarked on far-reaching economic and structural reforms — from fiscal and tax reforms, foreign exchange liberalisation, energy and subsidy reforms, to renewed efforts in infrastructure, agriculture, and public finance management. While these changes have not been without short-term pain, they represent a deliberate attempt to reset our economy on a more sustainable and transparent footing.”

The business magnate recalled that one of the most notable improvements in 2025 has been the gradual stabilisation of the foreign exchange market, following the severe volatility that threatened confidence in 2024. He noted that the move toward a more transparent, market-driven FX system has reduced uncertainty, improved predictability for businesses, and begun to restore investor confidence — an essential foundation for long-term growth.
At the same time, he acknowledged the deep human cost of insecurity across the country — where many families lost loved ones, countless communities were displaced from their homes, and livelihoods were disrupted. These realities, he pointed out, weighed heavily on Nigerians’ collective conscience and reminded us that economic progress must go hand in hand with safety, justice, and social stability.
“We must continue to pray for comfort for the bereaved; restoration for the displaced; and lasting peace for our nation.
“The tightening of global visa and immigration policies affecting countries like Nigeria is a wake-up call for us to strengthen our economy from within, especially by creating opportunities for our youth. Embracing the new tax regime with an open and forward-looking mindset can help unlock investments in critical sectors such as education, healthcare, agriculture, and infrastructure, driving jobs and national productivity.
“Despite the challenges, I remain optimistic that with faith in God, responsible leadership, and collective commitment, today’s reforms can translate into lasting prosperity. With gratitude and goodwill.”
