The Ondo State Police Command has arrested four suspects involved in a violent disturbance at a farm settlement in the state.

In a Wednesday statement, command spokesman, DSP Abayomi Jimoh said the incident occurred on January 28 at Akintola/Aba Tintin Camp.

He said the command received credible intelligence about a group of farmers and local guards reportedly engaging in a heated confrontation and threatening one another with firearms, thereby endangering lives and disrupting the peace of the community.

“Acting swiftly on the intelligence, operatives of the command mobilised to the location, professionally de-escalated the situation, restored calm, and successfully prevented what could have escalated into a fatal armed confrontation,” the statement reads in part.

Jimoh said in the course of the operation, four all-male suspects were arrested namely, Samuel Bello, Oladoye David, Oladoye Kehinde, and Ifawibe Ebenezer.

He explained that a thorough search conducted during the operation led to the recovery of two double-barrel guns and one Dane gun.

He added that the recovered firearms have been secured as exhibits, while the suspects are currently in police custody pending the conclusion of ongoing investigations aimed at establishing ownership, licensing status, and any wider criminal links.

The Ondo State Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal, assured residents of the state that the command remained unwavering in its resolve to clamp down on illegal arms possession, violent conduct, and all forms of criminality capable of threatening peace and security within communities.
