Unknown hoodlums have kidnapped the wife of a prominent traditional ruler in Ondo, the Alauga of Auga-Akoko, in Akoko North East Local Government Area of the state, Olori Olukemi Agunloye.
The monarch’s wife was allegedly kidnapped alongside her husband’s driver, who was driving her at the time of the incident.
The traditional ruler, Oba Samuel Agunloye, who informed Daily Sun of the ugly incident, yesterday, said his wife was kidnapped between Auga and Ise-Akoko, on her way to Ugbe-Akoko, her hometown.
The monarch said his abducted wife was in the vehicle with her driver, when the hoodlums struck on the road and kidnapped the duo. According to him, the vehicle was abandoned on the road after the abduction and added that the two mobile phones of both his wife and driver have, since their abduction, been switched off, making it impossible for him to communicate with them.
Chairman of the local government, Mr. Rafiu Eniayewu decried the high rate of kidnapping in the area, and added that security measures are being taken to curtail the devilish act and called for regular police patrol on major roads in the area, especially the Owo/Abuja Road, to ensure security of lives.
The Police Area Commander in charge of Akoko zone, Mr Razak Rauf, who confirmed the incident, said he has deployed his men to the spot the victims were kidnapped, and that that police detectives are already on rescue mission.
