Up-and-coming music star, Ogunsola(Olu) Benson Afolabi, with the stage name Olu Zoic, released his new studio work, Shokili, today.
Born on June 8, 1999, Olu Zoic drew his musical inspiration from popular hip-hop stars like Olamide and Wizkid and popular American pianist and worship singer, Don Moen.
Speaking about his new single, Shokili, at a media parley in Ibadan on Wednesday, Olu Zoic noted that he loves to tell important stories with his craft.
He said, “Shokili was inspired by the search for a lover that wouldn’t be against one’s progress. The song teaches partners to be there for one another, help each other grow and thrive no matter what challenges life throws at them. The main message I’m passing through my music is hope, love and peace. I believe that the world needs it more than ever.”
He spoke about the glaring extortion of up-and-coming and unwarranted bias by people in the industry which he described as ‘very frustrating’ for young acts.
Olu Zoic hopes they the industry comes together to support rising stars, train and develop them while pushing the Nigerian and African crafts across the world.
