For CNN Award winning journalist and now Queen of Apomu Kingdom in Osun State, Olori Janet Afolabi, anything worth doing is worth doing well. Her passion for humanity led her into journalism and she excelled as a media executive. Same passion Olori Janet is now exhibiting as community leader.

From the first day her beloved husband, His Royal Majesty Oba Kayode Afolabi mounted the throne as the Alapomu, the Olori has been hands-on in the matter concerning the women of Apomu and some adjoining communities. She recently launched Network of Women in Rural Areas as part of activities to celebrate rural women and provide a platform for them to access financial support to boost their petty businesses.

For all these altruistic endeavours, the World Women Organisation, an international non-profit platform, singled out Olori Janet as a Special Guest and recipient of its 2025 International Philanthropy Award to honour and celebrate her humanity and spirit of generosity.

At a recent ceremony which took place at Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, distinguished women, leaders, policy makers, entrepreneurs and stakeholders from various sectors gathered to celebrate the power of unity and collaboration in driving women empowerment and economic inclusion with Olori Janet on the rostrum to be bestowed with the prestigious honour.

The organisation said the award committee unanimously selected the Queen as a recipient of the International Philanthropy Award in recognition of her philanthropy and contributions in innovative food distribution in rural areas and vulnerable communities in Western Nigeria.

The World Women Organisation is a movement where women speak to, for and with women, to address the challenges that hinder progress while empowering women to assume leadership roles in their communities, nations and globally. The Organisation currently operates in 61 countries with its global headquarters in Maryland, United States of America.
