‘Old school print’ returns at Africa Fashion Week Nigeria

Rich traditional textile took the centre stage at the just concluded Africa Fashion Week Nigeria (AFWN) held at the National Arts Theatre, Lagos. The trend at this year AFWN  was simple, yet sophisticated. Fashion lovers were treated to  the turn around of old school African print  turned into dramatic and classy men’s and women’s wear. The two-day show which featured over 50 designers from Nigeria and African countries also had in attendance, the crème de la crème of the society.

Mr. Segun Awolowo, Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) boss noted that the fashion industry needed more investment, noting that the country is blessed with vast land to cultivate cotton, the major raw material required by the fashion industry. According to him, the country’s aim is to position the manufacturing industry as a viable sector to boost  non-oil export sector and enhance economic growth.
