In a bid to strengthen federal civil service leadership amid Nigeria’s push for efficient governance, the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) has launched the accreditation exercise to select five new Federal Permanent Secretaries, following approval from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The process targets candidates from Adamawa, Bayelsa, Enugu, Kano, and Ogun states to fill existing and upcoming vacancies, according to a statement by Director, Information and Public Relations Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Eno Olotu.

Head of the Civil Service, Didi Walson-Jack, officially opened the accreditation on Monday in Abuja. Represented by Permanent Secretary, Common Services Office, Danjuma Usman, she described it as “the foundational step in a critical national assignment that will determine the future quality, integrity, and capacity of the Federal Civil Service leadership.”

Walson-Jack urged the Accreditation Committee to uphold “utmost diligence, thoroughness, and strict adherence to established rules and procedures,” stressing that “the principles of fairness, transparency, and merit must be paramount throughout the exercise.”

Chairman of the committee, Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Education, Olumuyiwa Enitan, echoed her call. “Any lapse or error at this stage could undermine the credibility of the entire selection system,” he warned, adding that members must exercise “meticulous attention to detail, foster teamwork, and comply strictly with the approved framework to ensure a process beyond reproach.”

Eligibility follows the Public Service Rules 2021. She reaffirmed her office commitment to a “robust, credible, and merit-driven process.”
