Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has congratulated three internationally acclaimed artistes of Igbo descent for their victories at the 68th Grammy Awards, describing their achievements as a proud moment for Alaigbo and Nigeria at large.
In a statement issued yesterday and signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Ezechi Chukwu, the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation commended Collins Obinna Chibueze, popularly known as Shaboozey; Tyler Gregory Okonma, known globally as Tyler, The Creator, and Cynthia Chinasa Onyedinmanazu Ukaegbu Erivo for what it termed their “historic victories” at the prestigious global awards held on February 2, 2026.
Ohanaeze said the accomplishments of the trio across diverse creative fields reflect the creativity, resilience, and global relevance of Igbo talent, noting that their success has, once again, projected the Igbo identity positively on the world stage.
Speaking on behalf of the global Igbo nation, the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Senator Azuta Mbata, said the Grammy wins reinforce long-standing Igbo values of excellence and determination.
“These outstanding achievements reaffirm the timeless Igbo virtues of brilliance, hard work, innovation, courage, and perseverance. Our sons and daughters have, once again, demonstrated that wherever Ndigbo find themselves, excellence follows and they hoist the flag of Nigeria. We celebrate these winners not only for their personal success, but for elevating the Igbo name as Nigerian citizens with dignity and pride before the world.”

The organisation noted that by proudly bearing their Igbo identities and names onto one of the world’s most prestigious cultural platforms, the award winners have brought honour not only to Alaigbo, but to Nigerians everywhere.
Ohanaeze further thanked the artistes for serving as worthy ambassadors of Igbo values and for inspiring young people across the globe through their journeys.
“Their journeys send a clear message to Igbo youths everywhere: remain focused, law-abiding, resilient and committed to excellence, knowing that integrity and perseverance can open doors on any global stage.”
The group also used the occasion to call on governments and institutions to invest more in structures that nurture talent, creativity, and enterprise, saying such support would enable more young people to thrive both at home and abroad.
“As a people known for turning adversity into opportunity, Ndigbo remain proud contributors to national and global progress. We urge governments, institutions and stakeholders to continue investing in structures that nurture talent, creativity, and enterprise, so that future successes may flourish.”
Ohanaeze saluted Igbo youths worldwide who continue to uphold the values of Alaigbo with honour and distinction, describing the Grammy victories as historic milestones that would remain a source of pride for generations to come.
