The National Association of Ogun State Students (NAOSS) has urged former Ogun State Governor Senator Gbenga Daniel to refrain from causing distractions for the current administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun.
In a statement signed by its National President, Kehinde Thomas, NAOSS criticized Daniel’s recent press interview where he lamented the underreporting of his administration’s achievements and claimed that the foundation for many projects, including the Agro-Cargo Airport, was laid during his tenure.
NAOSS stated that Daniel should not blame the media for the lack of coverage of his administration’s achievements, but rather acknowledge his own engagement in “needless political wars” while in office. The student body commended Governor Abiodun for completing the Agro-Cargo Airport project, which had been left unfinished for over a decade, and criticized Daniel’s claims that the project was initiated by his administration as “a distraction for a performing governor” and an attempt to “find flimsy excuses for failure.”
NAOSS praised Governor Abiodun’s commitment to good governance, political inclusiveness, and tolerance, contrasting it with Daniel’s administration, which was marked by “thuggery, cultism, and political intolerance.” The students’ body urged Daniel to acknowledge Governor Abiodun’s efforts to break the cycle of political intolerance and harsh treatment exhibited by previous administrations.
NAOSS reminded Daniel of the harsh treatment he inflicted on his predecessor, Aremo Olusegun Osoba, and the subsequent humiliation he faced at the hands of his successor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun. The statement emphasized that the people of Ogun State are aware of the political motivations behind Daniel’s recent statements and remain supportive of Governor Abiodun’s administration.
