Ogun speaker pledges support for deplorable roads in Itele-Awori communities

Ogun Assembly seeks governor’s, NASS intervention over indiscriminate killings by Customs officers

Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Oludaisi Olusegun Elemide, has received a delegation from the Itele-Awori Access Roads Advocates, led by Dr. Yomi Otubela, who appealed for the inclusion of their communities in the 2026 Ogun State budget for road infrastructure development.

During a visit on Tuesday, Dr. Otubela bemoaned the deplorable condition of access roads in Lafenwa, Aparadija, MOPOL Junction/Odo Ilo, Itele, Aiyetoro-Budo, Ejigun, and surrounding communities, citing immense hardship to residents, business owners, students and public service providers.

“The roads have remained in terrible disrepair, causing immense hardship to residents, business owners, students and even public service providers. During the rainy season, entire communities are cut off, lives are endangered, businesses are collapsing and properties are losing value,” Otubela said.

He appealed to the Speaker to facilitate the engagement of the Ministry of Works and the House Committee on Infrastructure for immediate on-site assessment and budgetary allocation, stressing that the intervention would restore hope to thousands of residents and revitalise economic and social life in the Ado-Odo/Ota axis.

The speaker, known for his people-centred leadership, assured the delegation of his commitment to the welfare of the people and expressed confidence that the House would give legislative support and priority attention to the roads under the State Infrastructure and Road Development Programme.
