FAS Comprehensive College, Ota, Ogun State, has emerged the overall winner of the 2026 CWAY World Water Day Essay Competition, as the firm reaffirmed its commitment to safe drinking water and youth-driven advocacy across Nigeria.

The keenly contested competition, which drew hundreds of entries from secondary school students, climaxed at the company’s headquarters in Isolo, Lagos, with participants interrogating this year’s global theme, “Water and Gender.”

At the end of a rigorous process, Fadare Oluwaseunfunmi of FAS Comprehensive College, clinched the star prize of N300,000 and a CWAY premium water dispenser, outclassing five other finalists with a performance judges described as insightful and confidently delivered.

Trailing closely behind was Emeka Vanessa Victory of Mighty Pillars School, Lagos, with a reward of N200,000 and 25 packs of bottled water, while Oluremi Temidayo Mercy of Coriander Secondary School, Lagos, came third, earning N100,000 and 20 packs of water.

Other finalists; Richard Oghagaoghene Eterigbo, St. Margaret Comprehensive College; Melody Iboma Solid Ultimate Academy; and Oniga Ayomikun Dee Royale Montessori School, received consolation prizes.

The grand finale saw finalists defend their essays through oral presentations before a panel of judges, who assessed entries based on relevance, structure, depth of argument, language and delivery.

Speaking at the event, CWAY’s Group Marketing Head, Samuel Akinrimisi, said the company’s World Water Day involvement goes beyond the ceremony.“This is about driving conversations that matter. Access to safe drinking water is a fundamental right, and it requires collective responsibility,” he said.

Also speaking, Deputy General Manager, Sales Operations, Charles Ojo, pointed to the company’s expansive production and distribution network as proof of its commitment to bridging access gaps nationwide.

He added that CWAY’s operations not only deliver water but also create jobs and support economic growth.

The event’s intellectual highlight came from Dr. Efe Uwadiae of the University of Lagos, who delivered a keynote address challenging assumptions about water availability and sustainability in Nigeria.

The essay competition formed the centerpiece of CWAY’s broader World Water Day campaign, which also featured simultaneous activations across multiple cities, reinforcing the brand’s growing footprint and its message that water access and gender equality are inseparable.

With this year’s outing, CWAY has not only rewarded academic excellence but also amplified youth voices on one of the world’s most pressing development issues, the right to safe and accessible water for all.
