The Ogun State Government has called on tertiary students to lead the fight against cultism, kidnapping, and extreme violence, stating that safe campuses are vital to national security.

Azeez Adeyemi, the Special Assistant to the Ogun State Governor on Student Matters, made this call at a security summit organized by the National Association of Ogun State Students (NAOSS) at the Ogun State Institute of Technology (OGITECH) in Igbesa. Adeyemi warned that cultism brings only destruction, stating, “A degree with a criminal record is a wasted degree.” He also highlighted the Dapo Abiodun administration’s investments in OGITECH, including modern lecture theatres, ICT upgrades, and digital partnerships with Google and Oracle.

NAOSS National President Olubodun Olalekan Opeyemi welcomed participants and urged students to act as peace ambassadors by sharing intelligence with security agencies to protect their communities.

Officials highlighted infrastructural upgrades and tech partnerships with Google and Oracle at OGITECH as positive paths for students.

Student leadership expressed commitment to working with law enforcement by sharing timely information to prevent crime on campus.
