A chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State, Kenneth Ekitu Agbomah, has described the Supreme Court judgment which upheld the election of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as the true reflection of the wishes and desires of the people of the state.
Agbomah said last Friday’s judgement by the apex court was an affirmation of the overwhelming victory of Oborevwori in the March 18, 2023 governorship poll.
Recall that the Supreme Court dismissed three separate appeals seeking to over turn the judgements of both the Court of Appeal and trial tribunal which had affirmed the declaration of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate as winner of the election by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The appeals were filed by Ovie Omo-Agege of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Ken Pela of Labour Party and Kenneth Gbagi of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
Reacting to the development, Agbomah, a former House of Assembly aspirant, congratulated the governor and urged him justify the mandate freely given to him by Deltans.
Speaking with Journalists in Asaba, Agbomah hailed the Supreme Court for the judgement, noting that Oborevwori’s triumph was victory for peace, unity and sustainable development and economic prosperity of the state.
He called on the candidates of the opposition political parties and all the residents irrespective of their political affiliations to set aside their differences and join hands with the governor to move the state to greater heights.
“I want to commend the PDP lawyers for their good presentation of evidences at the Supreme Court which led to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s victory.
“The victory at the apex court reflects the desires of many Deltans who stood against all odds to cast their votes on the election day. I want to urge all residents of the state to see the verdict of the court as victory for democracy.
“I also appeal that we should all come together in unity and give maximum support to the governor to enable him deliver the dividends of democracy to the people of the state,” he added.
