The management of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has warned Corps members serving in Kebbi State against involvement in illicit drugs, unauthorized traveling and other social vices through out their service years.
The Director Human Recourse Management of NYSC, headquarters, Abuja,Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammad Abdul stated this while addressing 2023 Batch ‘C’ Stream II Corps members at the permanent Orientation Camp, Dakingari Suru Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
Ibrahim, who congratulated them for the successes they recorded during their schools undergraduates period, which qualified them to be mobilized for national service, urged them to put their total trust in God.
He also told them that Camp life is regimented, tasked them to abide by the rules and regulations of the Orientation course.
According to him, ” I want to urge all of you Corps members to stay away from unauthorized journeys, drug abuse and other forms of social vices. Stay in the Camp because Camp activities have a lots of benefits to your future endeavours.
“I want to implore you to participate fully in all the camp activities without hesitation, impact positively into your host communities through out the Community Development Services (CDS)”, he said.
Ibrahim also emphasized on the need by the Corps members to participate on the SAED in the Camp and post Camp trainings, stressed that, white collar jobs are not readily available.
“Therefore, it became necessary for the youths to embrace entrepreneurship in order to create wealth, jobs and become employers of labour”, he said.
Earlier, the Kebbi State Coordinator of NYSC, Mrs. Okolo Agatha Banki while delivering her brief, welcomed the Director to the Camp and disclosed that a total of 1,416 Corps Members were registered comprising 695 males and 561 females as at the closure of the registration exercise for both Kebbi and Zamfara States.
She informed the Director that swearing-in ceremony took place successfully without any challenge and appreciated the commitments of all Camp Officials whom she described them as the “winning team”.
