The Nigerian Union of Railway Workers has cautioned staff to refrain from vandalising railway infrastructure, ticket racketeering and siphoning of diesel..

President General of the Union Comrade Jonathan Luka Ajiji who made this known in a terse statement also warned members involved not to seek solace from the Union if arrested.

He reiterated that the Union will not interfere in any matter concerning fraud or stealing of any railway property.

Ajiji averred that any staff found wanting as an accomplice or perpetrator in any of aforementioned cases will face disciplinary action and not protection from the Union.

Recall that in recent times there have been cases involving vandalization of railway tracks, bolts and fasteners as well as signal and communications equipment along the railway corridors by some staff and their accomplice.

Most of those involved including staff and members of public have either been dismissed or sent to various jail terms depending on gravity of their offences.
