From Joe Obukata Ogbodu, Warri
A Warri-based firm, Manroy Global Services Limited, has forged a media partnership with the Warri Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), with the aim to enhance media growth and community development in its operational area.
Managing direction/chief executive officer of the firm, Mr. Michael Taniohwo, led management staff of the company into the strategic meeting with the newly elected executives of the chapel.
Speaking during the meeting, chairman of the chapel, Comrade Akpokona Omafuaire, who led a high-profile delegation to the company, said that the visit was part of the union’s tradition of introducing newly elected executives to relevant stakeholders and organizations within its coverage areas.
Omafuaire, who emerged as chairman following the chapel’s election on March 16, 2026, noted that members of the chapel represented various national newspapers and media organizations across the country.
“Following the successful election, the chapel deems it necessary to formally engage organizations and individuals willing to partner with the media,” he said.
He emphasised that the union remained committed to professionalism, agenda setting, and effective dissemination of information.
He recalled that the chapel had secured a permanent secretariat through the support of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited and appealed to Manroy Global Services to partner the chapel in the areas of capacity-building, internet support, transportation and welfare for members.
He also emphasised the need for regular training and retraining of journalists, especially in the areas of artificial intelligence (AI), noting that the media industry was rapidly evolving.
In his response, Taniohwo said that the corporate body frequently carried out community development and corporate social responsibility initiatives for society.
“We remain committed to impacting lives positively and contributing to societal development,” he said.
Taniowho assured the NUJ delegation of the company’s readiness to work closely with the chapel, and encouraged the chapel to properly itemize its requests for consideration.
He added that Manroy Global Services looked forward to building a strong and productive relationship with the media for mutual growth and development.
Earlier, Silver Ofugara, one of the directors of the firm, welcomed the delegation and expressed appreciation for the visit.
He congratulated the leadership of the chapel and commended journalists for their roles in informing society and promoting development.
Ofugara described the visit as significant, particularly because the delegation was accompanied by respected senior journalists whom he referred to as mentors and fathers in the profession.
Ofugara further said the company was impressed by the presentation made by the leadership of the chapel and immediately resolved to support it.
He said that Manroy Global Services valued collaboration, humanitarian service and corporate social responsibility.
Ofugara disclosed that the company had continued to support communities through various interventions.
“The company has undertaken several projects, including the donation of transformers to communities, educational support for schools, and medical outreach programmes.
“The company recently donated transformers to communities, distributed educational materials to schools and carried out medical outreaches.
“There was a particular outreach where the company sponsored the surgery of a man who was almost blind. Today, the beneficiary has regained his sight and returned to work,” Ofugara said.
He pledged that the company would partner the Warri Correspondents’ Chapel to enhance the efficiency and productivity of members.
