Abia Warriors chairman Emeka Inyama was literally on cloud nine yesterday after his side secured a hard earned 2-1 home victory over league leaders, Plateau United at the Umuahia Township Stadium.
Inyama in a telephone chat with Daily Sunsports moments after the match described the fighting spirit of his side as amazing.
“I have not seen them play the way they did today (yesterday). We fought until the very last minute and that was what gave us victory,” Inyama said.
The veteran sports journalist said with the current form of the team, he is confident they would get result on the road as they hit Gombe and Ijebu Ode in two consecutive away games against Gombe United and Sunshine Stars.
“ We were unlucky against Enyimba in our last away outing. With our current form, I see us getting results on the road in our next two back to back away outings,” Inyama said.
In the other NPFL matches decided yesterday, Kano Pillars were in superb form at home as they overran MFM by 3-1, while Shooting Stars bounced back to reckoning with a 2-0 victory over ABS.
Akwa United playing at home put smiles on the faces of their fans as they recorded a 2-0 victory over Katsina United. Rangers on their part continued their fine run as they held Niger Tornadoes to a goalless draw in Lokoja. The FC IfeanyiUbah, Wikki Tourist clash in Nnewi also ended goalless. Nasarawa United managed a 1-0 home victory over Enyimba while El Kanemi beat Remo Stars 2-0. Sunshine Stars who were last week banished to Ijebu Ode starred the journey in their new home with a 2-1 victory over Gombe United.
