Thousands of members of the Nigeria’s Peoples Congress (NCP) in Benue on Thursday formally declared their support for the governorship candidate of the People’s Redemption Party (PRP), Revd. Fred Ikyaan.
The NPC members were led to the Fred Ikyaan Campaign Office in Makurdi by the Msokoga Iorhen, Special Assistant to the governorship candidate of NPC, Bishop Sam Zuga.
Msokoga, who spoke on behalf of the NPC members at the event, said they came to hand over the campaign structure of Bishop Sam Zuga to Revd. Ikyaan because they believed that he has the key to unlock Benue and take it to the next level.
In their separate remarks, Zonal coordinators for Zones A, B and C, Uloor Tor Vanger, Alibo Andrew, Abel Friday respectively, said their decision to support Ikyaan was born out of their desire to join hands with a man of God to rule Benue come 2019.
“We decided a long time ago to have a man of God to support for the election. That was why we supported Sam Zuga but we later discovered that he no longer has the capacity to realize his ambition. So, we have collapsed the Sam Zuga’s structures into Ikyaan campaign structure.
“We are sure Ikyaan will take over from where Sam Zuga stopped because we know he can take us to where we are going. Ours us not to rig elections but to give Ikyaan a mandate that cannot be contested in the law court,” they concluded.
Responding, the PRP governorship candidate, Revd. Ikyaan, who heartily welcomed the NPC members described their decision to support him as very significant towards the journey the redeem Benue.
“Because of this synergy, we will be required to join hands. We look forward to the PDP and APC to join us before the window of opportunity is closed. We look forward to them adding value to our vision for Benue. You have come to join PRP out of conviction and I promise that you will enjoy every potentials available to all in the party.
While noting that PRP is a peace loving party and which doesn’t believe in running people down, Ikyaan urged those parties who indulge in hate speeches to come to PRP and learn even as he enjoined the people to come out on Saturday, exercise their franchise and protect their votes.
