James Hope University (JHU), Lekki, Lagos, has appointed Prof. Austin Nosike, an accomplished economist and management scholar, as its new Vice Chancellor. His appointment was ratified by the university’s Board of Trustees on August 8, 2025, following the recommendation of the Governing Council, Senate, and Search Committee.
In a statement, the Registrar and Secretary to the Governing Council of JHU, Achugamonu Bede Uzoma said, Nosike formally assumed office on Friday, September 12, 2025.
With more than three decades of academic and professional experience across Africa, Europe,
America, and Asia, Nosike brings a wealth of expertise to the office. He has previously served as the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Dean, Director, and Head of Department at leading institutions worldwide.
Before joining JHU, Prof. Nosike held top academic and administrative positions at the International University of Equator in Burundi, University of Kigali in Rwanda, Metropolitan
International University, Copperstone University in Zambia, and Ugandan Pentecostal University.
He also served as a visiting professor of Finance and Management at Kigali Independent University (ULK) and as a visiting scholar of Globalization and Development at the University of the Basque Country in Spain.
“In his new capacity, Nosike will serve as the chief academic and administrative officer of James Hope University, with responsibilities that include steering academic policies, financial leadership, student admissions, and the overall institutional growth of the university,”Registrar and Secretary to the council,” Uzoma stated.
The university was founded by renowned philanthropist, businessman, and founder of Zenith Bank, Jim Ovia.
The institution was licensed in 2021 by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
Prof. Nosike’s appointment is expected to further strengthen JHU’s mission of delivering globally competitive education and fostering strategic partnerships around the world.
