The registrar/chief executive of the Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), Prof. Josiah Olusegun Ajiboye, has charged teachers to embrace technology as a tool to enhance teaching and learning experiences.
Ajiboye also charged the teachers to never overlook the importance of human connection and empathy in the classroom.
He stated this at Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe (NOCEN), Anambra State, during the ninth oath-taking ceremony and induction of 1,090 new teachers from the college.
The TRCN boss inducted new teachers who graduated from PDE, B.ED and NCE programmes and urged them to adapt to the changing needs and demands of the 21st century learner and foster a culture of inclusivity and diversity within their classrooms.
“I would like to express my gratitude to the provost and his management team and the ever-committed staff of this great institution for providing a nurturing and stimulating environment for the development of future educators. The commitment and dedication of both teaching and non-teaching staff have undoubtedly played a pivotal role in shaping your knowledge, skills and values as teachers.
“As you embark on this chapter of your professional lives, I want to emphasize the vital and noble responsibility that comes with being a teacher. Teachers are the architects of society, shaping the minds and hearts of the next generation. You have chosen a calling that has the power to transform lives and make a lasting impact on society.

“I urge you to take this exercise with all the seriousness it deserves. Oath-taking is the most important legal basis for admission into a profession and a condition for professional practice. Note that any breach of the law particular on oath calls for sanctions.
“Your dedication to the noble profession of teaching will undoubtedly impact countless lives and shape the future of Nigeria. Embrace the challenges and triumphs that lie ahead with passion, enthusiasm, and an unwavering commitment to the betterment of education,” Ajiboye saud.
In her remarks, the Provost of NOCEN, Dr. Justina Anyadiegwu, represented by Dr. Ndu Azubuike charged the inductees to be serious by ensuring that they hold the teaching profession in high standard.
“Do not be scared of challenges because they are part of life as they make you sharper, happier, stronger and relevant. Embrace the current entrepreneurship, digital and technological innovation opportunities around you to improve yourself.
“I enjoin you to avail yourselves of these opportunities to build yourselves inline with the 21st century innovative, international teachers. Do ensure that you do not miss these opportunities. Always remember that education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today according to Malcolm x,” she noted.
One of the inductees, Miss Esther Muoto in her remarks on behalf of others expressed joy for the opportunity and thanked the lecturers for their efforts in nurturing them to the present position.
She however, assured that they would keep the flag flying and to be worthy ambassadors of the college anywhere they found themselves and promised that they shall sustain and maintain the professional ethics.
