Rack Centre has commissioned its 12MW LGS2 Data Centre, a hyperscale and AI-ready facility boasting the lowest Power Usage Efficiency (PUE) in Nigeria. CEO Lars Johannisson announced this milestone during a media briefing in Lagos.

The multi-million-dollar LGS2 is designed for optimal energy efficiency, utilising a sustainable power mix including gas, diesel, and planned solar installations. “Our energy sufficiency drive, with gas turbines and upcoming solar power, positions LGS2 as the region’s most energy-sustainable data centre,” Johannisson stated.

He highlighted Nigeria’s significant data centre investment potential, driven by rising internet penetration. “LGS2 supports seamless connectivity and cloud adoption, offering reliability and resilience for business continuity,” he added, emphasising Rack Centre’s commitment to bridging the digital gap.

In his remarks, the Chief Operating Officer of Rack Centre, Ezekiel Egboye, remarked that the facility was designed with critical features to meet what is required today and in readiness for the future. Egboye noted that the facility represents the huge infrastructure workload needed to provide the required energy for future work, driven by AI. He explained that the company remains committed to its sustainability goals, noting that awareness of ESG-related pollution continues to drive its energy mix.

Also speaking during the media briefing, the Sales Director of Rack Centre, Folu Aderibigbe, described the newly built facility as a pivotal investment that would help drive economic growth and promote innovation. Aderibigbe stated that with such a facility, Nigeria will be positioned as a significant digital hub alongside South Africa on the African continent.
