- Hails NNPCL, Partners for Delivering Two-Year Job in 11 Months
- Assures Energy Sector Investors of Resolve to Enhance Business Environment, Investment Convenience

President Bola Tinubu has commended the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and its partners, AHL and SEPLAT Energy PLC, for delivering three critical gas infrastructure projects in 11 months, exceeding the initial projection of over two years.
Speaking at the virtual hybrid commissioning of the projects, Tinubu also reassured investors in the energy sector of his administration’s commitment to enhancing the business environment and ensuring investment convenience.
The inaugurated projects include the expanded AHL Gas Processing Plant, the ANOH Gas Processing Plant, and the 23.3km ANOH to Obiafu-Obrikom-Oben (OB3) Custody Transfer Metering Station Gas Pipeline.
“I need to commend the NNPCL in particular because 11 months ago we resumed and I asked of this project and I made my priority and the administration’s priorities clear on gas for prosperity,” Tinubu said.
“They said this might take two years, these three projects. But upon later review they didn’t make further promises but they said they would surprise Nigerians.”
“Today is a great day for your achievement, demonstrating your teamwork, commitment and dedication to the projects. I congratulate all of you the entire team for what you have done for the country, to achieve these projects in less than two years, and 11 months fulfilment.”
Tinubu also assured citizens that his administration is stepping up its coordination of other landmark projects and initiatives to accelerate gas-fueled prosperity in the country. He emphasized that the projects align with the Decade of Gas Initiative and his government’s vision to utilize gas resources while eliminating gas flaring and promoting industrialization.
“This event is highly significant to our country as it demonstrates the administration’s concerted efforts to accelerate the development of critical gas infrastructure geared at significantly enhancing the supply of energy to boost industrial growth and create employment opportunities,” Tinubu said.
“It is pleasing that when these projects become fully operational, approximately 500MMscf of gas in aggregate will be supplied to the domestic market from these two gas processing plants, which represents over 25% incremental growth in gas supply.”
“In practical terms, this is more gas to the power sector, gas-based industries, and other critical segments of the economy. I, therefore, commend the strategic vision of the NNPC Limited and its partners, Sterling Oil Exploration & Energy Production Company Limited (SEEPCO) and Seplat Energy Plc, for this laudable and value-adding project,” he added.
Tinubu reiterated his administration’s commitment to leveraging the nation’s vast gas capacity to drive economic growth. He mentioned the Presidential CNG initiative aimed at transitioning Nigerians away from petrol and diesel, as well as other initiatives incentivizing gas development.
“The theme of this inauguration – ‘From Gas to Prosperity; Renewed Hope’, must be adopted by all gas-sector participants and would-be investors as a clarion call to ramp up efforts to accelerate investment and developments of projects in the gas sector on a win-win basis,” Tinubu said.
“I would once again commend the efforts of NNPC Ltd, alongside SEEPCO and Seplat Energy, on this business partnership initiative, and congratulate you all on the successful implementation of the three projects,” he added.
Tinubu concluded by reiterating his government’s resolve to continue supporting initiatives that deepen domestic gas utilization, increase national power generation capacity, revitalize industries, and create job opportunities for economic growth.
